The Karakoram Express is a prestigious inter-city passenger train operated daily by Pakistan Railways, bridging the vibrant metropolitan hubs of Karachi Cantonment and Lahore Junction.
First introduced on 14 August 2002, the train was part of a broader facelift effort within the national railway system, earning its reputation as Pakistan’s fastest train upon launch.
It covers approximately 1,241 km in around 19 hours, operating daily in both directions: as 41UP (Karachi→Lahore) and 42DN (Lahore→Karachi)

The train travels along the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line, then branches through the Khanewal–Wazirabad Branch Line, reaching Sangla Hill Junction via the Shahdara Bagh–Sangla Hill Branch Line, before rejoining the Karachi–Peshawar Line toward Lahore.
Sangla Hill Junction sits in Punjab’s Nankana Sahib District, acting as an important railway nexus with three active platforms, parking, separate waiting rooms, and parcel services.
Besides the Karakoram Express, Sangla Hill is served by trains such as Pakistan Express, Rehman Baba Express, Badar Express, Ghouri Express, and others.

41UP (Karachi to Lahore)
Departure: Karachi Cantt at around 15:00.
Stops: Hyderabad Jn (≈17:50), Rohri Jn (≈22:30), Bahawalpur (≈03:18), Khanewal Jn (≈04:35), Toba Tek Singh (≈06:10), Faisalabad (≈07:15), and arrival at Lahore Jn around 09:35

42DN (Lahore to Karachi)
Departure: Lahore Jn at around 15:00, stops at Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal Jn, Bahawalpur, Rohri Jn, Hyderabad Jn, Landhi Jn, Drigh Road, and arrival at Karachi Cantonment at approximately 10:25
