Fantasy General was one of the "Five Star General" series by SSI, which took the accessible-yet-detailed formula of Panzer General and applied it to several other theaters as well. Fantasy General, Pacific General, and Star General as the other three games in the same engine.
Fantasy General has always been my favourite owing both to the art, a slightly simplified gameplay, and the music - and so in today's "few" minutes of DOS game I play through the first campaign section and defeat King Dragga, losing several units I really needn't have. The difficulty mostly spikes from the third continent onwards, first two are fairly gentle on the player.
