In this part of Resident Evil Village, Ethan travels to the flooded reservoir controlled by Salvatore Moreau, the most pitiful and unstable of Mother Miranda’s lords. Unlike the others, Moreau desperately wants approval, masking his insecurity behind rage and self-pity.
As Ethan navigates the ruined, waterlogged village, he’s stalked by Moreau’s grotesque mutated form—a massive, fish-like creature that bursts from the water without warning. The section leans heavily into tension and environmental danger, forcing Ethan to solve puzzles while constantly avoiding the monster’s sudden attacks.
The chase culminates in a boss fight where Ethan uses Moreau’s own acidic bile against him, exposing the tragic reality behind the creature: a failed experiment who was never meant to survive Miranda’s twisted vision. After defeating Moreau, Ethan recovers another flask tied to Rose’s remains, pushing the story forward while reinforcing the game’s theme of cruelty, obsession, and discarded lives.
