Using Vocal Media is quite easy. It doesn't have the block system that you'd see on some other systems. However, it doesn't let you resize subheadings. This can be problematic if you create subsections under a topic...which I do.

After checking a couple of articles from a couple of years ago, it seems I made just under $2 from a total of 500 views. Since you need to hit the threshold of $35 before having a payout, I doubt I'll see any money in the near future.

Of course, the payout from Vocal Media is going to depend greatly on the type of content you create and whether you can engage an audience. If you choose a great topic and share it with as many people as you can, you might be able to bring in a couple of dollars before the year ends.

Personally, I'd rather just use Vocal Media as a way to get in some blogging practice. Because there are so many different types of topics you can write in, you can see what works for engaging an audience.

Unfortunately, I don't know how well this would translate for writing your own content. People who read Vocal Media might have a different taste than the general public.

If you have an hour or two, it might not be a bad idea to give it a test run just to mess around. If anything, it can help you practice and develop your skills as a freelance writer.
