Everyone has different ability levels, but matchmaking should ensure that players with vastly different ability levels should not be in the same match. Blizzard's matchmaker I believe currently tries to match players in each role, so supports will match supports, DPS with DPS and tank with tank, but it clearly doesn't work and reduces the quality of gameplay by a lot. They need to rethink matchmaking, including the effect of groups vs non-groups.
Having said that, the irony is not lost on me. It ended up being a very exciting game, but this is a rare scenario where the result suggests that matchmaking worked, yet if we repeat this match many times, the results will not be so balanced.
