Matthew Perry Interview – "Stop asking me questions about the Friends reunion" (2016)

Описание: On 8 February 2016, Matthew Perry sat down with ITN to talk about his playwriting debut, The End of Longing. He discussed how he came to write a play, where he found inspiration for its characters, and why his own past battles with alcoholism and addiction allowed him to relate to his own character in particular. He also discussed the enduring success of the hit sitcom Friends, in which he played the lightning-witted Chandler Bing. While Perry made it clear he had moved on from the show and wished above all to discuss his new play, he also spoke of feeling flattered when people recognised him as Chandler in the street. He also talked about his Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc's love of cars, the Joey actor having recently joined the presenting team of BBC's Top Gear.

It was announced on 29 October that Matthew Perry had died aged 54, the star having been found unresponsive in his hottub at his LA home. People across the world of entertainment have paid tribute to Perry, including Friends creators Marta Kauffman, David Crane and Kevin Bright. In a joint statement, the three said they were "shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing,” adding that they felt "blessed to have had him as part of our lives.” Referencing his iconic performance as Chandler, the three explained that "from the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us.”
