Here's another track from our upcoming album "Lively Times - LIve at the Anza Club" (coming Nov. 26). https://linktr.ee/Lonesomeace
Anyone who knows much about us knows that John Hartford is a big influence on our music - not just his songs, but his approach to playing old-time music. We have two of his songs on our new release and they are both of his seminal 1976 album "Mark Twang".
We've been playing "Skipping in the Mississippi Dew" pretty much since day one of this band. We recorded it on our very first album, but it's definitely morphed a bit since then. The original is so squirly and so, well, "Hartford". We definitely had to do some interpretation in order to make it something that we could all make sense of in the same way at the same time...if that makes any sense.
You can pre-order the album, and check out the rest of the tracks right here - https://lonesomeace.com/pre-order-liv...
Once again thanks to Andrew Smith at Vancouver Live Sound for capturing the audio, all the folks at Approach Media for filming the night, and to the Pacific Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Society Community Group for hosting us way back in November 2019!
