It borders Nanjing in the west, Changzhou in the south, and Yangzhou in the north. It is an important transportation hub in East China. There is Changzhou Benniu International Airport at the junction of Danyang City and Xinbei District of Changzhou City, and it is also accessible by Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, Shanghai-Nanjing High-speed Railway, Hurong Expressway, Yangli Expressway, 312 National Road, 104 National Road, etc. Major cities in China are the only junctions between the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
Zhenjiang is a famous national historical and cultural city. It was called "Zhufang" in the Spring and Autumn Period, "Guyang" in the Warring States Period, "Dantu" in the Qin Dynasty, "Jingkou" in the Three Kingdoms period, and "South Xuzhou" in Jingkou in the Southern and Song Dynasties. After the reunification, it was renamed as "Runzhou". Zhenjiang has been named since the Northern Song Dynasty and was the capital of Jiangsu Province during the Republic of China.
