Tension prevailed in Khammam district after authorities moved to take possession of 60 acres of Bhoodan government land near V. Venkatayapalem in Raghunathapalem mandal. Acting on court orders, officials, along with heavy police deployment, began clearing the land using JCB machines.

According to reports, nearly 600 people have been residing on this land for the past several years. While some families constructed permanent structures, others were living in temporary huts. Authorities stated that the eviction is being carried out strictly as per court directives.

Residents, however, expressed deep anguish, saying they have been living there for months and years and are now left with nowhere to go. Many requested additional time to vacate the land, but officials maintained that the land must be cleared immediately. The situation turned tense as locals tried to resist the demolition process, leading to arguments with police on the spot.

Over 1,000 police personnel were reportedly deployed to control the situation and ensure the eviction process was completed without major law and order issues.

The Bhoodan land has been under dispute for several years, and today’s action marks a significant development following the court’s decision.
