My visit to Prehistoric Pets the home of Jay Brewer and his Reptile Zoo

Описание: I was invited to speak at a conference in California last January and I asked my host about the opportunity of being able to visit the famous Prehistoric Pets home of Jay Brewer and The Reptile Zoo.

I've been sitting on all this footage since then and I've gone through a personal struggle and extreme emotional turmoil in deciding wether or not I even wanted to share this any of this footage or make a video.

Now those of you that know me personally know full well that I always try to find something positive in everything. In the case of Prehistoric Pets / Reptile Zoo I do very much believe that they entered into this with the best intentions and give them as mentioned numerous times in the video the benefit of the doubt. As a member of an organization Responsible Reptile Keeping that I truly believe in has the best interests of not only the animals but our rights to be able to work with such incredible and fascinating animals. A responsibility that none of us should take lightly. All life forms big or small in our care deserve to have to best be it a house plant, a goldfish or a giant snake. They rely entirely on us for not only providing us with proper nutrition but also proper conditions with which to flourish and thrive in our care.

In the case of Prehistoric Pets and The Reptile Zoo sadly they have grown to such a point that the allure of fame and riches has taken over to a point that numerous animals in their care are suffering. The Newest, the Hottest, whatever critter it may be that provides the best return in views, clicks and in turn profits are generally given some fairly nice enclosures.
However once the lustre of said animals has dulled and the views and clicks have languished some are relegated to almost third world Prison conditions and provided the absolute bare minimum care and conditions.
As you will see for yourself the conditions for animals from tropical high humidity conditions will have to learn to survive here and they better appreciate the dog water dish they will be provided.

Now in all truthfullness I have never been here before, nor have I ever met any of the family or staff before. So i went in excited to see so many unique, uncommon species however after being there for almost 3 hours hours my host knew full well the internal emotional struggle I was grappling with.
