I sorta free balled the shawl, but if anyone wants to make something like it… I based it off of the Simple Bandana pattern by Paula Leme and adjusted to be worked in stockinette & shawl sized. I picked a needle size that worked for my lumpy yarn but you can do this for any weight yarn and any needle size.
Knit Shawl Pattern:
Any yarn weight & corresponding needle size
1 size down needle size
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Set up rows:
using 1 needle size down, CO 3 sts
WS: purl all sts
RS: Sl1kw, yo, k1, yo, k1 (5 sts total)
WS: S1pw, p all sts
RS: Sl1kw, k1, yo, k1, yo, k2 (7 sts total)
WS: Sl1pw, p to end
Now switch to your correct needle size:
RS: Sl1kw, k1, yo, k to 2 sts before end, yo, k 2
WS: Sl1pw, purl to end
Repeat step 1 & 2 until shawl is the size you desire. (You are increasing by 2 sts on each RS row)
Bind off border:
RS: Sl1kw, k1, yo, k2tog, yo to last 3 sts, k1, yo, k2 (2 sts increased)
WS: Sl1pw, p to end
Stretchy bind off.
I measured out 10 in strands and slip knotted the tassels on.
Thanks for watching!
Love you.
