The Calliope - Singles & Rarities 1967-68 + many bonuses! (Garage Psych Rock Anthology)

Описание: Gathered here for the first time with Jimmy Mitch Bentley's approval, here are the two singles by garage/psych band The Calliope, plus their "lost" fifth recording as The Millburnaires, followed by six chosen tracks from the later career of Calliope's guitarist James Bentley aka Jimmy Mitch Bentley ranging from the 1980s to 2025!

The Calliope (active from 1967 to around 1970) were from Short Hills, NJ. Members were: James Bentley (guitar, vocals), Tom Einhorn (rhythm guitar, vocals), Tom Hansbury (bass, vocals) and Richard Hughes (drums). Heidi Lowy also played harp on two recordings. They auditioned at Columbia but when they asked James Bentley to join another band he prefered to stay with the band so it didn't work out.

The Millburnaires ('68) was their High School folk rock band and featured 10 students of Millburn High. "Titania" (here at track 05) was recorded by the Calliope members with Ceil Gruessing of the Millburnaires playing the flute and was included on the souvenir album of the year, "Straight Shooter". The song was co-written by James Bentley and... William Shakespeare!

The other recordings are played and sung by Jimmy Mitch Bentley. He also recorded and produced a couple of singles in the 1980s for Larry Campanella and Frank J. Costa. Mike Dalton also sings one of Jimmy's songs here. He is one of Jimmy's fave local singers.
