This Does NOT Look Like Wood! – Mallee Burl on the Lathe

Описание: This doesn’t look like wood — and turning it didn’t feel like wood either.

In this woodturning video, I take on a mallee burl, one of the hardest and most visually striking pieces of burl wood I’ve ever put on the lathe. The surface looks almost alien, with twisted growth, extreme figure, and chaotic grain that makes mallee burl woodturning both beautiful and brutal.

This was a challenging lathe turning session where every cut had to be earned. The burl constantly fought back, testing tools, technique, and patience. I leave everything in — the struggles, decisions, and mistakes — because that’s all part of honest woodturning and the learning process.
