Blessed Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas (January 28), Doctor of the Church!
To celebrate this special feast, I thought we’d dive into a very well known depiction of St. Thomas Aquinas, by Carlo Crivelli. This painting originates from a 1476 polyptych featuring a number of other saints, but today we’ll take a closer look at this depiction, and how Crivelli used powerful imagery to revive a Dominican Church in decline and encourage the faithful!
If you’ve ever been moved by Catholic art or are curious about how beauty can deepen your faith, I hope you’ll find something meaningful here!
