Gaelic Roots Lunchtime Series: virtual event with fiddler Matt Cranitch

Musician Matt Cranitch gives an illustrated presentation featuring tunes from the manuscripts of Sliabh Luachra fiddle master Pádraig O’Keeffe (1887–1963).
Matt Cranitch is renowned as a fiddle player and teacher. He has performed extensively at home in Ireland and abroad, and has presented many lectures and master classes. Author of "The Irish Fiddle Book," Matt has also contributed to other books on Irish traditional music. An authority on the fiddle music of Sliabh Luachra, he received a PhD from the University of Limerick for his study on the fiddle-playing tradition of this region.

Presented by Irish Studies at Boston College, this virtual event is produced in collaboration with the John J. Burns Library Irish Music Archives and Boston College Libraries. The Gaelic Roots Music, Song, Dance, Workshop, and Lecture Series is directed by Sheila Falls.
