Ricster Diaries Episode 87 - Ricky Goes To The Capital | 01/10/2024

Описание: Filmed on 01/10/2024. So, having watched others who managed to visit the capital in London for the whole day, we decided to give it a try. So, this is the whole day in London.

Starting the journey at York (vice Scarborough) we catch what is one of the daily LNER Azuma's from Middlesbrough this being the 08:13 from York running non stop to London Kings Cross. A high speed run though to London with a slight hold up at Peterborough to allow for a stopping Thameslink service via the slow lines to Horsham to depart. Then again, we were around 5 mins early at this point. We arrive into London Kings Cross a few mins early. At London Kings Cross, we managed to sign in without any issues for a good hour spotting session. But, the heavens opened out and the rain poured down all throughout the day.

Next, we walked along Euston road to film at our second London terminal of London Euston. Different scenes without the ex Thameslink class 319's for London North Western Railway which now focuses on their class 350 Desiro units and the all new class 730's which their introduction into service is pending. But, they do have on loan from West Midlands Railway a few class 730's in the meantime to operate services to Milton Keyns Central.

The London Underground was next as we travelled along the Victoria Line through to London Victoria being our third London Terminal. But, we kept our focus with Southeastern in the meantime as getting Gatwick Express and Southern units can be tricky at this station. A good hour nevertheless with easy permission to sign in.

And finally and to our fourth London Terminal of London Waterloo which is up for debate as the busiest London Terminal station which is in competition with London Liverpool Street station. Southwestern Railway providing plenty of action with their class 158's making a surprise visit to London Waterloo. And long overdue but finally their all new class 701's are now in service after a delay.

Finally and with all the rain cleared away, we head for the embankment/Westminster for a short time sightseeing. Then, we head once again via the London Underground to Kings Cross/ST Pancras as we then catch the 23:00 LNER InterCity 225 Set to York. This service was a set down train only which means it only drops off passengers before setting off and it doesn't have to wait for it time at each station. Apart from Doncaster where we were an amazingly 20 minutes early.
