A selection of interesting doors from Oaxaca City. The doors can be seen as a portal into the architectural style of Oaxaca, Mexico's most colonial state. I've learned that Oaxaca's Spanish Colonial architecture dates back to the early 16th century; the doors are an aesthetic that has hardly changed since that time.
Oaxaca is also celebrated as the cultural and artistic centre of Mexico, and the rich textures and colours of its diverse doorways (some of which are part of Oaxaca City's many murals/amazing street art) reflect the beauty and charm of this city.
Photographed in May 2023. The music is a traditional Oaxacan song called 'Nanga Ti Feo', sung in the Zapotec language, a dialect spoken in the state of Oaxaca.
