Finding Peace in Istanbul | Chora Church, Patriarchal Church of St George, Balat & Hidden Gems

Описание: Enjoy a quieter side to Istanbul. We’ll check out spots that are well worth a visit but harbor fewer crowds than other main attractions in this amazing Turkish city. The stunning Chora Church (now Kariye Mosque/Camii) is open once again and rich in Byzantine era mosaics and frescoes that rival even those of Hagia Sophia. We’ll also check out the Church of St. George (Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Cathedral), the patriarchate for Orthodox Christians. Plus, explore the colorful houses of the Balat neighborhood and get a taste of the Eyüp Sultan Mosque. Enjoy the many forms of public transportation Istanbul has to offer like the bus, a beautiful Bosphorus ferry, quick tram ride, and a short journey up the Pierre Loti Hill on the teleferik (cable car). Enjoy a little tour of the Golden Horn’s (Haliç) less busy sites.
