In today's video, I discuss my very first paycheck being a new grad travel PT in a SNF. I get real with you guys and go through my own personal pay package. Later in the video I go into a bit more detail and break down a typical travel PT pay package. I know when I was researching everything out there about travel PT, I never quite fully understood the pay package until I talked to several travel recruiters. They use the analogy of a "pie" (like a pie chart, not a freshly baked home-made pie) to help interested PT students/grads better understand what all is included in a pay package.
In general, a travel PT package includes:
hourly wage (taxed)
stipends (meals, housing)
reimbursements (travel, licensure, CEU)
bonuses (didn't discuss this in the video)
With all that combined, you will have your take-home weekly paycheck. But remember to deduct how much taxes is taking out along with benefits. Like I've said, I'm a new grad travel PT so I'm still learning the ins-and-outs of mastering the art of a travel PT (e.g. making the most monies while providing the best patient care around the country). My current contract pay package is a bit on the lower end compared to the national average ($1,800/week), so my goal for my next contract is to increase my weekly take-home pay to get as close to that number as possible (or even better, higher than that)!
I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it! Please continue to support my efforts of sharing my own personal journey as a new grad travel PT in hopes to educate new, interested PT students/grads in the process.
See you next FRIDAY at 7! :)
