Info about the reviewer.
I started paragliding in 1994 and always flew with EN-D rated or equivalent rated wings.
My last gliders were, Gin Boomerang X, Gin GTO2, Advance OMEGA X-Alps2, Advance Omega X-Alps3.
I have over 4000h flying time, flew some comps in the past but mainly free fly (XC).
I'm not sponsored by a paragliding manufacturer nor dealer.
I paid for my glider.
In the box
Nova Xenon, inflatable tube to keep curve on the rods (needed for nitinol?), paper manual, Nova stickers, ripstop repair patches, NOVA windsock, very nice lightweight concertina bag, normal weight very nice and comfortable rucksack (light weight rucksack will be released soon).
Nova Xenon
Many color options, also standard lime option, and that's a relieve from my previous glider/brand. With a flat aspect ratio of 6.7 the Nova Xenon is easy to fly and turns very nicely.
In 50h I only got one tip collapse in turbulence, non on bar.
The Nova Xenon gives me more confidence along the complete flying spectrum compared to my latest gliders.
The Nova Xenon carves nicely through turbulence as expected from a 2-liner. I recently flew a 3-liner EN-C, and the difference is very notable.
I'm flying the Nova Xenon at 88kg (90kg top).
I had two collapses (strong thermal turbulence) each time fast reopening without glider turn, keep in mind I'm almost at the top weight.
B-control
No special comments, as expected.
Brakes
Short IMO, good direct control
Speed bar
Moderate speed bar pressure.
Risers
Thin and stiff, simplified, so very clear to see the risers and lines are all correct lined up.
Adjustable B toggles
When pulling the B's also the B3 line is corrected with a bridge to improve the profile. Other brands do this as well.
Fabric
I like the Dominico, it feels and looks like it has a coating that act as dirt repellent. It also looks very shiny.
What did not work so well?
The B toggles have caps on the side, and I got a version where the caps tend to come loose. Apparently, this issue is tackled on future releases. I will replace all caps with new tighter ones.
The sleeves to cover the soft links on the risers tend to slip back. To be honest on my previous glider it was elastics band instead of sleeves and they also would slip down. Before each flight I make sure the sleeves are up. I’m not sure what might be a good solution here?
I wanted an Orange with Red Xenon but that combination was not allowed by Nova as this combination is reserved for Nova Team pilots only.
Conclusion
Flying the Nova Xenon is a very nice experience as it turns very easily with direct control, short brake travel, and combined with the good performance it's a preferred choice for pilots who want a easy to handle (for the experienced pilot) performant light weight glider for XC, vol-bivouac and hike&fly comps .
Any questions, let me know.
