Australian police say they have foiled a potential antisemitic attack after discovering a caravan filled with explosives in Sydney’s northwest. Authorities revealed that the explosives, found on January 19 in Dural, could have caused a blast wave of up to 40 meters, posing a serious threat to the Jewish community. Police have made arrests but have not disclosed details.
In response to a rise in antisemitic incidents, security has been heightened at Jewish schools and institutions, including one recently targeted with antisemitic graffiti. The issue has become politically charged ahead of Australia’s upcoming election, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese facing criticism over his handling of hate crimes.
