Welcome to the first episode of So You Need A Monster! Starting the journey into the Monster Manual is the Merrow.
Merrows are the corrupted, monstrous cousins of sea-dwelling merfolk or elves - twisted by demonic influence when they were lured into the deep by a dark entity of the Abyss. Now, they stalk coastal waters, shipwrecks, and underwater ruins, serving chaotic evil masters or hunting for fresh prey. Bigger and stronger than a typical merfolk, a merrow is all muscle, scales, and bone - and looks like it was sculpted from sea rage itself. In the Monster Manual artwork, it towers with pale blue skin, a tangle of seaweed-like green hair, jagged armor, and rusted metal weapons lashed together with rope.
