On today's video we show you everything you need to know to hand milk a dairy cow from start to finish. Our cow 'Belinda' is the star of the video and helps us demonstrate exactly the process for preparing your cow for milking. We also show how we set up and process our raw milk.

We find using a stainless steel pitcher to milk works best for us. We always strain our raw milk through a filter in a stainless steel strainer but you could attach a tea towel on the pitcher opening for straining as you milk. There are also screens that fit right on top of buckets for straining as you milk.

Getting started milking can have a steep learning curve so we hope our video will help you be successful. Hand milking a cow is very peaceful and a great way to start your day.

I have always found milking a cow to be something to look forward to daily. The way I look at it is, I get lots of joy and exercise from milking a cow and get amazing raw jersey milk in return. You just can't beat it!
