The story recounts the beginning of all things, when God, eternal and without beginning or end, created the heavens and the earth. At the heart of the narrative lies the calling of Abraham, a wanderer of faith, to whom God promised numerous descendants and blessing for all families of the earth. Through Isaac, Jacob, and his twelve sons, the nation of Israel forms, multiplying in Egypt and departing under Moses' leadership, traversing the wilderness despite unbelief and a forty-year punishment of wandering. Under Joshua's command, they conquer the Promised Land, followed by the era of judges with rises and falls, where God raises leaders like Gideon and Samson against oppressors. Monarchy begins with Saul, passes to David, a man after God's own heart, and Solomon, the temple builder, but ends in the kingdom's division due to sins and idolatry.

The tale continues through the fall of the northern kingdom to Assyria and the southern to Babylon, exile and return under Cyrus, with the temple and Jerusalem's walls rebuilt under Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah. Prophets like Elijah, Isaiah, and Malachi condemn corruption, idolatry, and social injustice, calling for repentance. The Old Testament concludes in a period of silence, foreshadowing the Messiah's coming from David's line, where the people undergo purification through trials and gain profound understanding of God's plan.
