Interpretation: The Hebrews adored and cherished their religion, full of many laws, edicts, teachings and doctrines. Catholics and Protestants do EXACTLY the very same thing. Sadly, much of it is not of God's Spirit leading or speaking via organized religion. It is mainly TRADITION and religious dogma. Jesus confronted the religious traditions of the day -- just as he does today. But as the Jews refused to listen and eventually had Jesus put to death, even today organized religion ignores God and goes merrily along. Those who point out error are not respected and are considered faithless heretics. If possible, the powers of today's organized religions would prefer "troublemakers" forever silenced.
