Ghizer was a crossroads between Gilgit and Chitral via Shandur Pass, and also to China and Tajikistan via the Broghil Pass through Ishkomen Valley. Shandur Pass is a pass located in District Ghizer of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is often called 'Roof of the World'.
