Adapted from the bestselling picture book Julián is a Mermaid by Jessica Love, the film marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award nominee Louise Bagnall, best known for her acclaimed short Late Afternoon, and is written by juliany taveras, a Dominican-American writer from Brooklyn.
