Higgins, with the inaugural Global Voice for Humanity Award at the IDEA annual conference, in recognition of his commitment to justice, equality, and global citizenship education throughout his life. The award ceremony featured music from acclaimed violinist and composer Colm Mac Con Iomaire, spoken tributes from Caoimhe De Barra, CEO of Trócaire, award-winning poet Sarah Clancy, migrant justice leader Donnah Sibanda Vuma from Doras, Elaine Mahon from IDEA, Bobby McCormack from Development Perspectives, and students from Bunscoil Mhic Reachtain, Belfast, who work with IDEA members and funders Concern Worldwide.
