Описание: Can you use For Vs since, some vs any, until vs till, although vs though, or despite and whereas?

1.For vs since

"For" is used to indicate a duration of time. So use for + a period of time
For example: - "I have been studying for two hours." -

2. "Since": on the other hand It is used to indicate a starting point in time
"She has been living in this city since 2010."

Quiz

( since)
2.They‘ve been friends ___ for a long time
(for)
3. we have been busy ___ the morning
(since)

2. Some vs any:

"Some": It is used in positive sentences or questions when you expect a positive answer or when you want to offer or request something.
For example: - "I have some apples." (Positive sentence) -
‘would you like some sugar? (I think you will say yes)

"Any": It is used in negative sentences or questions when you expect a negative answer or when you want to offer or request something without specifying a particular quantity.

any

any.

3. until vs til

Until: means up to the point in time or the event mentioned. This word is used to indicate a point in time before which an action or event will continue. It implies that the action or event will stop at that point.
Example: "I will wait until you finish your work."

Til: This is a shortened form of "until" and has the same meaning. Example: "I'll be here til you get back."

4. Although: It is a conjunction used to introduce a contrast or concession. It indicates that there is a contradiction or unexpected result.

Example: "Although it was raining, we still went for a walk."

5. Though is similar to "although," it introduces a contrast or concession. however,It is often used at the end of a sentence.

Example: "She didn't win the race, but she ran well, though."

6. Despite :This preposition is used to show that something happens or exists even though there may be obstacles or opposing factors.

Example: "Despite the rain, the picnic was a success. now you might say then why don’t we use although

please notice that we say despite the rain or it raining so here we add a noun or a gerund but we say although it was raining

7. Whereas: It is a conjunction used to compare or contrast two different things or ideas. Example: "She enjoys hiking, whereas I prefer swimming." here we can also use while
