Farmers Field Day: Song and dance at Moleti village, Kongwa District

Описание: The AfricaRISING project organized a series of Farmers Field Day in Kongwa and Kiteto Districts in Dodoma and Manyara Regions, Tanzania, from 12 - 15 May 2014. They had two aims: the first was to get farmers' feedback and preferences on the various trials of new improved varieties that were underway. This would then ensure that the varieties that the researchers recommend for the region meet the end users - the farmers - needs and preferences such as on taste and texture in addition to the high yield. Secondly, to expose and create awareness to the farmers on some of the modern farming technologies that the project is promoting to increase production and productivity. These include the use of fertilizers, better intercropping and spacing, and construction of terraces to reduce soil erosion.
