RAW is not about compression or resolution. It's about BIT DEPTH.
It gives you 16,363 values per pixel: red, green or blue. Most CODECs are 8-but 256 or 10-bit (1,024) to a full color 8-bit color space.
If you get your exposure right. Use LOG IF YOU KNOW what you're doing, then Casey is right, you will see NO DIFFERENCE between 8-bit and RAW...because again you see everything in 8-bit.
Only use RAW If you want to choose IN POST between a dystopian look OR best saturation look. Or, if you think you might screw up exposure.
Otherwise, again, you will see NO DIFFERENCE as Casey points out.
Otherwise, Casey is giving great advice. RAW slows everything down. Better time spent on creativity!
