It is actually very common for dogs to go swimming in swimming pools and for the most part this is not a problem for either the dog or the pool. Dogs should be discouraged from excessively drinking pool water, though a couple of laps is not likely to cause a problem for them. The filtration system for the pool probably suffers the worst from dogs swimming in pools simply because of the amount of dog hair that will end up in the pool. It is said that one dog can be equal to anywhere from 3 to 20 people worth of bacteria and hair loading for the filtration system so you can expect to have a high chlorine demand after letting your dogs go swimming. It would also be important to clean the filter and strainer baskets as well.
