River Thames Walk - Growing Up Different

Описание: Join me on this Geordie Ramble as I walk along the River Thames from the Thames Barrier towards central London, passing through Greenwich and beneath the city skyline, with the O2 rising above the river behind us.

This time, I’m joined by a friend.

We follow the curve of the Thames, moving from the quiet presence of the Barrier, under the cable car, past the wide skies of Greenwich Peninsula, and gradually towards the glass and steel of the London skyline.

As we walk, we talk about what it feels like to grow up different.
About not quite fitting the mould.

About learning to understand yourself later than everyone else seems to.
And about how those early experiences shape the way we move through the world as adults.

There’s something about walking through a city this big that makes those conversations feel both small and important at the same time. The river keeps moving. The skyline keeps changing. And we reflect on how identity isn’t fixed — it shifts, it grows, it settles.

With open stretches of river, industrial echoes, and the steady presence of the O2 in the distance, this walk feels like a journey through change — both personal and collective.
