Cartesia – She thinks therefore she is. Named Cartesia by her parents’ interest in Descartes & Cartesian Dualism, she has been rather embarrassed by it all ever since. She doesn’t share her weird parents interest, (now just her father since her mother's passing away) that is until her world, and everybody else’s, is turned upside down by a real physical and deliberate creation of Cartesian Dualism, formed as a means of survival and evolution. Are we are our body and mind, as one, or are we simply our mind, soul or spirit in a life giving vehicle of our body. What if we, or others, could develop another better life-giving body? Could we live forever, travel anywhere or colonise space. What if others do it to us first? This film tries to explore the latter. How would it arrive, how would we be treated, would it be any different, any less ruthless, to the way peoples in centuries past have colonised other people’s land? What if we as humans are no longer deemed top of the tree on our own planet? This is a 360 degree/VR film short. It will be best enjoyed on a 4k VR headset but can still be watched and explored in 360 degrees on an ordinary flat screen, mobile phone or TV.


The music is all original and written, played and recorded by Stephen Shelton – who is Nepenthes Sloth (I’ll let you work that out!)
