CMMCS Brands Hatch GP - Saxo VTR -

Описание: Amazing but very hot day at Brands Hatch GP yesterday with @classicandmodernsouth. Reaching 36 outside and approximately 110 inside the tin can saxo but wasn’t going to say no to the GP circuit!

Only ever done roughly 20 laps on this format ~5yrs ago so qually was a quick learning experience as we only had 15 minutes. Mixing with the super saloons always makes things interesting as many have 4x the amount of HP + slicks. Had a few wild moments through clearways and paddock and found my rear tyres to be at 50psi.. Overall very happy with P20/32 as it put me ahead of some very powerful cars.

Race 1 saw me lose a few places on lap 1, really struggle to keep places in the saxo. Not got the craft and the straight line speed to keep up when things are slow in the corners. Had fun keeping a VW behind as he almost took me out into Druids, following lap he sadly then lost it going through Paddock. A double yellow at Stirlings stopped me progressing however a few DNF’s and issues meant I was able to finish P18 and P3 out of all of the TinTops.

Race 2 was a similar story at the start and I somehow found myself 5+ seconds off the next car on lap 4. Knowing that I had the pace to be battling I put in my fastest lap a 1:49.5, the car just felt right and it’s probably the best lap I have ever done although looking at it now I can see improvements (clip above) Now at the back of the group I was able to give Ken a difficult time as the VW cups battled ahead. Again not able to make a move (blaming lack of power) but was great fun start to finish!
