This 3D simulation of a future wing assembly factory was created by Prodtex as part of the Locomachs research project. This was the largest European aerospace research project and included 31 different partners from the industry including Saab, Airbus, GKN, Bombardier and many others.
Created using Dassault Systemes new 3DEXPERIENCE CAD software (the successor to CATIA V5) this simulation demonstrates how the different research projects that were completed as part of Locomachs could be scaled up and combined to build a complete aircraft wing in the factory of the future. An demonstration fixture was built using Reconfigurable tooling to prove the technology used in this simulation. This fixture is now built and fully functional at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry UK.
