The incident took place at Namburi Wine Shop, located opposite D-Mart, resulting in property losses worth several lakhs of rupees and triggering a major controversy. According to reports, around 3:00 AM, a masked individual allegedly poured petrol and set the wine shop on fire. The entire act was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the shop. Thick smoke and flames quickly engulfed the premises, prompting the on-duty watchman to alert the shop owner, Namburi Venkataramana, who immediately informed the fire department and local police. Firefighters rushed to the spot and worked for nearly one and a half hours to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby commercial complexes and residential areas. Despite timely action, liquor bottles worth nearly ₹4 lakh, large storage refrigerators, and a parked auto were damaged in the fire. Following the incident, the shop owner made sensational allegations, claiming the fire was not caused by a short circuit but was an act of arson. He alleged that TDP MLA Daggubati Prasad and his associates were behind the attack, stating that he had received threatening calls a day before the incident. The owner has announced plans to file a formal police complaint and demanded action from the Chief Minister and Minister Nara Lokesh.
