A planning application to improve the city’s outer ring road has been submitted.
The plans include significant improvements with the aim of reducing congestion, moving car journeys out of the city centre and improving active travel facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

“Hello, I’m Gary Frost, Major Projects Manager for City of York Council and I’d just like to let you know that a planning application has been submitted for upgrading part of York’s Outer Ring Road. The scheme proposals are for a dual carriageway extending from Rawcliffe in the west around the north side of York to Little Hopgrove in the east. This represents a major improvement to York’s highway network. It’s a £65m investment and funded by the council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the Department for Transport. Subject to planning approval, construction is anticipated to commence in 2023. But for now, the documents and plans and drawing are available online for you to view and comment. Thank you.”
