In this powerful episode, Akshay Raghav is joined by Gurdev Nidar Singh, the 9th Gurdev and sole living master of Sanatan Shastar Vidiya™ — a martial tradition believed to be passed down from ancient Kshatriyas like Shri Ram and Shri Krishna, to various Indian kings, Rajputs, and eventually the Sikh warriors, preserved through the Baba Darbara Singh Akhara™, established in 1661.
Together, they dive deep into the concepts of Ram’s Vidya vs Ravan’s Vidya — exploring how this ancient combat system offers a moral compass to distinguish between just and unjust use of force.
This conversation reveals:
How Sanatan Shastar Vidiya trains warriors to act with dharma, not ego
Why the difference between Ram Vidya and Ravan Vidya is not technique, but intention
How this martial art is rooted in cosmic order (ṛta), not brute aggression
The role of inner stillness, awareness, and spiritual discipline in combat
Why this knowledge is vital in today’s world of moral confusion and ideological warfare
The ongoing efforts to preserve and teach Shastar Vidiya through Budh Baridh™

📜 About the Speaker:
🔹 Gurdev Nidar Singh Nihang is the 9th master of Sanatan Shastar Vidiya™, the last living link in a lineage of warrior-saints preserving India's ancient martial knowledge. Born in the UK, his journey led him to a remote village in Punjab, where a chance encounter with an Akali Nihang changed his life. For 25+ years, he has trained rigorously, studied Indic martial philosophy, and worked to revive this dying art.
