A widow and her children were so poor that they could not afford to buy decorations for their tree at Christmas. The spiders took pity on them and spun webs through the night. When the sun came up in the morning, it made the branches sparkle. Some say that's where we got the idea of tinsel from.

I wrote the chorus to the melody of 'Frere Jacques' and wrote the verse to the melody of 'Insy Winsy Spider' so it's really easy to remember. It's perfect for pre-schoolers and early years children. Work with them to make up actions.
