Roy Williams is one of the country’s leading dramatists. His plays include The Death of England Trilogy (National Theatre), Sucker Punch (Royal Court), and the adaptation of Sam Selvon's iconic novel, The Lonely Londoners. Though he hasn't written a full-length play with us, our paths have crossed many times, with Paines Plough helping to present some of his earlier in-development pieces, as well as contributing a piece to our audio series Come To Where I'm From.
We had a coffee and a chat about where it all began for him, what he is seeking in a play, and the highs and lows of the writing process.
