Here are seven of the best dog muscle building tips to help get your dog into top weight-pulling or show shape.
1. Start with a good dog food diet.
2. Add supplements to get missing nutrients.
3. Continue regular daily exercise.
4. Ask your veterinarian whether additional exercise is safe.
5. Add weight vests to give your dog a challenge.
6. Try different types of exercise next.
7. Allow time for muscles to develop.
Depends on the breed, but to use the full potential of a large breed is to feed it the best way you can, however the dog needs to exercise. Otherwise, it would just be a fat dog. Ask your veterinarian and use calcium supplements only if he thinks the dog might need it (Many very-large breeds do, because they grow big fast and might need some extra calcium).
Then, this is the fun part. Ask your local butcher if he has spare bones. Big dogs eat big bones, thighbones are the best. It must be big enough for your dog to not break it into pieces easily. Boil the bone in a large pot, don’t waste the juice. Put some bread in the juice with pieces of (cooked) meat. Give it all to your dog. You can also mix cooked oatmeal, leftovers, meat juice and yoghurt for another filling meal. This will make your dog grow big.
The size of a dog is dependent primary on its breed and pedigree. Within those limits you can achieve maximum by proper diet n exercise and good physical n mental health. Physical health is in turn dependent on diet and avoiding major diseases by immunisation, deworming and good hygiene. Exercise promotes the development of muscles. Sometimes we miss the fact that the size is basically dependent on length of the bones hence calcium and other micronutrients are vital for growth. Since homemade food no matter how much balanced you make it is invariably deficient in calcium (except milk, which I feel does more bad than good) so kibbles play an important role in diet. Since most kibbles contain fillers and unnecessary grains hence I personally advocate mixing kibbles with good protein sources such as egg n chicken and some amount of fresh boiled fruits and vegetables. Last but not the least its the mind over the matter hence lots of love and zillions of cuddles play a long and definitive role in good mental health and a happy puppy. I won't talk about senior dogs and their problems as I believe you have a puppy and are therefore you are worried about its growth.
