Kemi Badenoch has sacked Robert Jenrick, removed the Tory whip, and suspended his party membership, accusing him of secretly planning to defect.
She said she saw “clear, irrefutable evidence”, and The Telegraph reports the party found a copy of Jenrick’s resignation letter. Conservatives also claim he met Nigel Farage and discussed a move to Reform with allies.
Farage confirmed he spoke to Jenrick but denied any deal.
