ANTEDILUVIAN PERIOD | WHAT WAS THE WORLD LIKE BEFORE THE FLOOD

The Bible speaks of the antediluvian period in the early chapters of the book of Genesis. According to the biblical text, before the flood, human civilization achieved great accomplishments but also perpetuated a culture of disobedience to the Lord. According to the biblical text, the antediluvian period began with the family of Adam and Eve and their life story after their disobedience in Eden. However, Cain, one of the sons of the first human couple, escalated the level of rebellion against God's will even further. Consequently, he gave rise to a lineage that had no regard for the things of the Lord.

The Bible also says that during the antediluvian period, there were Nephilim dwelling on the Earth. Some believe that these antediluvian creatures were giants born from the union between fallen angels and women. However, the most likely interpretation is that the Nephilim were simply the powerful and renowned men of that period who dominated the world after the intermingling between Cain's wicked lineage and Seth's godly lineage.

The wickedness of mankind grew greatly during the antediluvian period until God chose a man named Noah to build a great ark that could house various species of animals because the earth’s surface would be covered by many waters. Thus, the flood-stricken world ended up submerged, and only Noah's family survived.
