One year ago, I could barely change from G to C without stopping. Today, I can finally pick up the guitar and play something that actually sounds like music. In this video, I share what that first year of guitar really felt like, what actually worked, and what I’d do differently if I was starting over again.
If you’re in your first year (or still thinking about starting), this is for you. I’ll walk through the boring flat months, the small wins that kept me going, and the habits that helped me stay consistent with just 15–40 minutes a day.
🌱 In this video:
-Why I finally committed to making guitar part of my identity
-The 3 “rules” I used to stay consistent for a year
-What actually improved (chords, strumming, barre chords, finger strength)
-The months that felt brutally repetitive and how I pushed through
-The exact advice I’d give my Month‑1 self so you don’t waste time
🎸 My 3 biggest tips for new players:
-Use a metronome and go painfully slow
-Work through exercises / songs that get gradually harder
-Have a simple practice plan so you’re not aimlessly noodling
-If you’re on your own guitar journey, I hope this helps you stick with it.
