THRASS SING-A-LONG SONGS 1-6

Описание: These songs are a fun way for children and adults to learn to read and spell English words. They are also very useful for teaching individuals, groups or classes about the 44 sounds and 120 keyspellings of English. For learning and revision purposes, for each song, encourage your learners to say the sound and then name the letter/s in each of the keyspellings.

The songs also help learners to become much more familiar with the 44 sound numbers in the English Sounds Code, especially if they have favourite ‘numbers’ that they like to play again and again!

▬ Assessing the Learning ▬
At anytime, a child or adult can be assessed on what they have learnt - simply by using the Mute button! They can sing the song in time with the highlighted ORANGE text or, with the video on Pause, they can simply read aloud all of the words. Of course, if preferred, with the volume on, they can be assessed on their ability to sing all of the words (or selected parts) in time with the music and vocals.

In these teaching videos, all of the keywords (on the English Spelling Chart) that contain the chosen sound (e.g. Sound Number 1, Sound Number 2, Sound Number 3, etc.) are shown in row order. Where exactly is the sound in these keywords in relation to the syllables, consonant blends and rhymes? Individuals, pairs, groups or classes can say aloud (chorus) the location of the chosen sound before they see the answer on the screen (be it on a mobile phone, tablet, computer or large digital screen).

▬ Musical Styles and Dance Rhythms ▬
The THRASS SING-A-LONG Songs are also a good introduction to a large number of different musical styles and dance rhythms from around the world - as each sound-song has been written in a different musical style. These include African Round, blues, boogie, Charleston, disco, hard rock, Hawaiian, hip hop, Irish Dance, jazz, jive, pasodoble, pop, ragtime, reggae, twist and waltz.

▬ Formal and Informal Language in the Sing-A-Long Songs ▬
Where appropriate, words of informal language (such as the word ‘outta’ in the ‘Get outta bed’ Hoedown) have been used to reinforce a musical style. It is assumed that the SING-A-LONG resources will not be the only literacy materials to be used in school and at home, and that teachers and parents will encourage their children to speak, hear, read and spell the formal language alternatives. When speaking with others, reading books and listening to radio and/or television, children are exposed to both formal and informal language and they usually learn, from experiences in school and at home, when and where to use the appropriate words and spellings.
