I picked up this New Era 59Fifty fitted hat from eBay, and it desperately needed a cleaning. Thrifted hats often come with built-up dirt and sweat stains, but with the right care, you can restore them without damaging the structure or brim.
This hat has a cardboard brim, so I used The Captician Hat Cleaner to clean it carefully without soaking the brim. For the crown, I hand-washed it with a wool-safe detergent, gently working the fabric to remove oils and grime. Afterwards, I tackled any remaining stains on the crown and thoroughly cleaned the sweatband with stain remover and microfiber cloths.
To finish, I used a hand steamer to kill any mites—a must for thrifted finds!
