Nylon gear is widely used in many applications for a reason, significantly reducing the friction noise, weight and protecting the expensive and difficult to replace motor shaft from wear.
The motor above was running every single day on a cargo bike and after 6000km we decided to stop, open and inspect all internal components. Note that the small steel pinion gear only lasted the 6000km without servicing thanks to the extra moly grease we applied to the motor (as you can see in this video: • Making your Bafang BBS02 mid drive last lo... ).
The white nylon gear had a large amount of black moly grease that leaked from the secondary stage reduction gear. In theory, the grease would have damaged the nylon gear, but surprisingly it looked brand new after cleaning and showed zero wear or damage after intense use. The grease looked black but it was actually mixed with a lot of white lithium grease so the moly grease was "diluted" at this stage. It was also mostly placed on the side of the gear and not much where the gear makes contact with the motor shaft making the nylon gear even less likely to fail.

Dashboard:
•V3 Cycle Analyst with with 1.00m ohms shunt
•Bafang C961 display
•2x 15 watts LED headlights (two modes: normal or high bean)
•Waterproof red LED voltmeter to monitor battery sag and performance during the ride.
Throttle / Brake Sensor:
•Left thumb throttle (connected to the BBSHD controller) adapted to road bike handlebar, set up between the brake lever and the bar (almost invisible) mounted on a copper T-joint (used for plumbing, same thickness as the handlebar) the long bit cut in half riveted to the bar with the other bit sticking out enough to mount the throttle.
•Magnetic cut-off sensor in line connected to my mechanical rear brakes
Bicycle:
•9kg Trek Road Bike
•Easton (rear) Shimano (front) performance 700c racing wheels with aerodynamic flat spokes
