We often get asked the difference between a screening mammogram and a diagnostic. The big difference between the two is that the physician is present and that you're having a symptom. If it's a screening mammogram, you come with no symptoms, no order, no appointment, and we do your exam and you leave. If you come for a diagnostic mammogram, you need to have an order from a physician for a symptom you're having or an order that we obtained because we saw something on your screening mammogram and called you back
