Mean Street by Van Halen off of their 1981 album, “Fair Warning.”
I was never of a fan of Van Halen, or any of the other ”Guitar God” bands of the day for that matter. That’s not to say they didn’t have a few good songs or that Michael Anthony was not an admirable bass player who was equally adept at playing with a pick or finger-style.
I don’t really like detuning my basses, so I reached out to my old friend from St. Louis, Jim, to, once again, help me out. He’s a guitarist and instructor who has access to a bit of software called ”The Amazing Slow-Downer” which cannot only slow a song down and maintain proper pitch, but can also raise the pitch of a song and maintain proper tempo, which is what he did for me…raised the pitch and kept the tempo. I’m sure there’s other cool stuff that can be done with it as well but that's above my pay grade. Anyway, thanks again Jim.
